Blackout curtains for Dubai bedrooms
Real darkness in a Dubai bedroom takes more than a heavy fabric. It takes the right lining, a track that runs past the window on both sides, and a return at each end.
A curtain labelled blackout in a shop is often a dim-out. We line with a three-pass blackout that stops light through the cloth completely, then deal with the edges, which is where most blackout curtains fail. The track runs 20 to 30 cm beyond the window each side, the leading edges overlap, and the outer edges return to the wall.
For children's rooms and shift workers we add a blackout roller blind behind the curtain. For living rooms that face west we usually recommend a thermal interlining instead, which cuts heat without making the room a cave.

Three-pass blackout lining
Foam-backed, opaque, and cool to the touch. Bonded or loose-lined depending on the face fabric.
Light-stop details
Extended tracks, overlapping leading edges, wall returns and, if needed, a pelmet or ceiling recess.
Any face fabric
Blackout is the lining, not the look. Choose velvet, linen or a printed cotton and it still goes fully dark.
Pair with a sheer
Most bedrooms take a double track: sheer for the day, blackout at night.

Will blackout curtains keep the room cooler?
Yes, noticeably. A lined curtain on a sun-facing window reduces the heat coming through the glass and most clients see it on the DEWA bill in summer. Thermal interlining does this even better.
Do blackout curtains have to be dark colours?
No. The blackout is in the lining. The face fabric can be white, cream or any print.
Can you make them for a nursery quickly?
Usually within a week if the fabric is in stock. Tell us at the visit and we will prioritise it.
